Summary |
Specifies the minimum number of widow and orphan lines for the currently selected frame. If a paragraph has its own non-zero settings for widows and orphans, either set using the Breaks dialogue box or with the <?tpwid>, <?tpor> or tpxbrk macros, then these will take precedence over the frame settings. Widows are last lines of a paragraph which occur at the head of a column or page. Orphans are first lines of a paragraph which occur at the foot of a column or page. |

Syntax
|
widow lines:n |
The number of lines from a paragraph that must be kept together with its last line. As an example, widow lines 2 means that three lines must stay together at the head of a frame; widow lines 1 means that two lines must stay together at the head of a frame; and widow lines 0 means that one line is allowed to appear on its own at the head of a frame. |
orphan lines:n |
The number of lines from a paragraph that must be kept together with its first line. As an example, orphan lines 2 means that three lines must stay together at the foot of a frame; orphan lines 1 means that two lines must stay together at the foot of a frame; and orphan lines 0 means that one line is allowed to appear on its own at the foot of a frame. |
