Summary |
Specifies how to display the page number reference for each format type (Group). Format types are specified when index reference entries are entered into a file. |
Example (n/a) |
No example is available for this feature. |
Syntax
|
type:n |
A value in the range 0 to 9, allowing up to ten different number display methods per index. Format type numbers 10 and 11 are reserved for free text entry and the 'see' and 'see also' strings. These numbers do not create nformat entries in the control stream. |
style:n |
Tells Arbortext APP how to format the page number. If you had been using format type number 1 for figures and wanted each reference to a figure number to be in italic, style would be the codes to change font to italic. |
At each index entry, 3B2 records the show string counters at that point along with the text of the entry. After the whole document is formatted, the index stream is created using all of the recorded information. During this creation, the appropriate recorded counters for each entry are used when the nformat show strings are processed. You do not have access to the full format environment of the index entry for nformat, only the recorded counters. Thus, if you wanted to use for example a getvar for the nformat value, the simple solution is to copy any numerical data needed for nformat (i.e. getvars) into a regular counter before activating the index entry, then use that regular counter in nformat. |
